Two one-week tours to open data best practices in Europe will be organized to enhance the practical open data knowledge of UNIZG staff. These organizations include public organizations at different administrative levels (EU, national, regional, local), businesses, research institutions and non-profit organizations. Aim of these visits is to gain insight in policies and day-to-day practices of open data organizations and in the main challenges they are facing. During the first tour of site visits, actors and organizations will be visited active in the different phases of the life cycle. These include open data providers, open data facilitators and enablers, open data users and decision makers. Countries and organizations visited include the United Kingdom (Open Data Institute, The National Archives, open data SMEs, etc.) and Greece (OKFN). The other tour will include visits to leading organizations in different domains of - open - data, such as geospatial data, transport, earth observation, research and education in the Benelux (e.g. Kadaster in the Netherlands, several EC DGs in Belgium).
